In April of 2013 I was lucky enough to have an adventure to Cape Town, South Africa, to spend time with my 'soon to be husband' Lawrie, and to meet his gorgeous family. There were a million reasons why this was an amazing experience, but for the purposes of this post I am wanting to share with you that, thanks to being on holiday, I was on the other side of the camera for a change, and consequently got a really clear picture of just how much extra weight I really lugging around. Funnily enough I had always managed to convince myself it wasn't that bad, and truly didn't realize how big I was. In the 'before' photo I was 17 kg overweight. If you think of that in terms of 17 kilo bags of flour, that is a lot of extra weight to be carrying around. It was the wake up call that I needed.
So now the question was what to do about it. At the time I had thought I had my diet pretty well sorted. I had been vegetarian for about 20 years, ate organics whenever possible, ate a wide variety of grains, pulses, nuts and seeds and aside from my one a day coffee and the occasional glass of wine, I really only drank water. My thoughts were therefore that my extra weight was a result of lack of exercise as this has always been an area I struggled with. I had been overweight since I was about 13 so this explained why I really felt that my size was simply 'just the way I was'. Fortuitously following endless research I came across the Changing Habits 4 Phase Fat Elimination Protocol.
I have now done this protocol twice and am about to start my 3rd round in order to loose the last 5 kg. The first time was just before my wedding in April 2014, you have to love a wedding as the ultimate motivator to look your best! I lost 10kg, which wasn't all the weight I needed to loose, however I stopped the protocol so I could fully enjoy my wedding and an amazing honeymoon to Indonesia. Whilst I want to stress that loosing this weight is certainly not all about how you look, but rather about being the ultimate gift to your health ........ feeling like a foxy mumma certainly helped me enjoy this amazing time, never before have I felt OK in a bathing suit!
Round 2 was at the end of 2014 when I shed a further 7 kg. I then got waylaid by the busyness of the end of the year so called it quits. I was not so disciplined so did put 4kg back on. Still all in all I was heading in the right direction.
Now I am about to start my 3rd round with the goal of loosing the final 5kg in order to reach my optimal weight (for the first time since I was 13), and to learn the final bits of information regarding what foods to embrace and which to eliminate.
Through sharing this part of my journey I hope to inspire those that have at least 5 kg to loose, to jump onto this amazing protocol and give yourself the gift of understanding exactly what your body needs, by way of food, in order to flourish. I will post my results regularly to give you a picture of how this works, and feel free to ask questions any time, if I can help you on your journey to wellness it would be my greatest privilege.
